Huawei P10 Throwback Review – Camera Centric Flagship

Here is my throwback review of the Huawei P10, which I still consider as one of my favorite phones of 2017. This is probably the only Smartphone that delivers a balance between aesthetics, performance and camera. The phone offers one of the best Camera to be fitted on a Smartphone on 2017.

A no fuss or BS Camera Centric Flagship

The Huawei P10 is one of those Flagships that strikes a balance between Performance, Aesthetics and Camera. It delivers everything you want on it. The Cameras in particular are impressive and I am not speaking as a Leica Fan Boy. Although it might not replace professional cameras, it offers a lot of versatility of a point and shoot camera. There are a lot of shooting modes and customization available on this Smartphone, that makes shutter bugs like me smile.

Pros:

  • Impressive Cameras, even on low light performance
  • The Camera is made for shutter bugs or camera enthusiast in mind
  • Built to last, iPhone like design with impressive build quality
  • High Quality 1080p Screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • Super Fast Front Touch ID or Fingerprint ID recognition
  • Supports MicroSD Expansion
  • Optimized system, slick, fast with no issues with performance
  • UI looks like iOS, and has a lot of customizations
  • Great gaming and multitasking performance
  • No overheating issues, idle temps rests between 28-30C
  • On heavy use or gaming, temps can raise 40C+
  • Excellent Connectivity, 4G LTE Speeds are blistering, Dual Band WiFi performs strong
  • NFC built in
  • Impressive Audio Quality, both for the loudspeakers and 3.5mm Audio jack
  • Comes with a free high quality earphones
  • Super Charger (5V 4.5A), can charge the phone in less than 90 minutes

Cons:

  • No Oleophobic Coating, meaning it is prone to fingerprint smudges and oil smears
  • Not as powerful pound per pound to other Flagships in the market
  • Price, it is still priced close to the OnePlus 5T and other Flagships
  • Only 4 GB RAM and 64 GB eMMC for a Flagship
  • 7 hours screen on time, not really spectacular
  • No info yet, if it can be updated to Android 8 or Oreo
