Same Power underneath
- Both smartphones pack the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 640 chipset underneath. And performance seems to be on par when it comes to benchmarks, but gaming fairs a bit better on the OnePlus 7, just because of the lower resolution and refresh rate.
- But on heavy use, both phones perform admirably well and the chipset is performs smoothly even on the demanding screen of the Pro version.
- Oxygen OS is super smooth and offers constant updates for stability and security. If you are a fan of the interface, then this is for you. The heavily customized OS is simplified, fast and highly responsive.
Screen (Bigger and Better?)
- OnePlus 7 features a 6.41 inch IPS AMOLED 2340 x 1080p screen with fix refresh rate of 60Hz and 402 ppi
- OnePlus 7 Pro boasts a slightly bigger 6.67 inch AMOLED 3120 x 1440 pixel screen with a variable refresh rate of 60/90Hz (can be set manually). It also has a much higher 516 ppi
3 versus 2 Cameras?
- The OnePlus 7 features Dual Rear Cameras, a main 48 MP Sensor and a smaller telephoto lens
- The OnePlus 7 Pro on the other hand offers 3 Rear Cameras, still the same 48 MP main sensor of the non-pro version, but adds another 16 MP Ultra Wide Angle Camera lens, for those wide angle landscape shots.
- The OnePlus 7 Pro Front cameras have a trendy pop-up style but roughly uses the same sensor as the non-pro version
Bigger Battery and faster charge?
- The OnePlus 7 Pro has a bigger screen, higher resolution and refresh rate and also consumes a bit more battery compared to the non pro version. Luckily, it also has a slightly larger 4000mAh battery and a whopping 30W fast charger.
- The non-pro version houses a slightly smaller 3700mAh battery and a 20W battery.
- Unfortunately, wireless charging is not supported by both phones.
Conclusion. Which one should you get?
- Price wise, well the OnePlus 7 is still a great choice, if you really don’t need the 90Hz screen and triple cameras, the non pro version is the best value to get. Anyway, the performance is still on par or even better especially in gaming.
- But if you want a much better screen and that advertised triple cameras and pop-up front cam, then the Pro version is the one to go. It is priced premium though, but you do get what you pay for.
Currently there is a limited time sale for these Smartphones. You can get the OnePlus 7 at just $399 and the OnePlus 7 Pro at $509.
