This is my unboxing and initial review of the Xiaomi Mi Note 3. A midranger Smartphone from Xiaomi that offers Quality features and build quality. It comes with the same Dual Glass Design of the Xiaomi Mi 6 with very similar performing Dual Rear Cameras.

A bigger and Cheaper Xiaomi Mi 6
It’s like looking at a mirror, at first glance the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 indeed looks like the Xiaomi Mi 6. The design, build and materials used are quite the same. It has the same glossy and fingerprint magnetic glass rear shell, similar ergonomics and Dual 12 mp rear cameras. And putting these phones side by side, you won’t know the difference between the two. I don’t know yet if the Mi Note 3 possess the same Splash Proof resistance but looking at the design, it seems so.
Identical Cameras?
Speaking of the camera, similarities extend to it, the same features, shooting modes and quality of the images that I have taken, as far as my early review is concern. The phone can also shoot 4K @ 30fps but it does lack 1080p @ 60fps. And basing on my early test, the Audio Quality seems to be the same with the Xiaomi Mi 6.
Goodbye 3.5mm
Similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6, the Mi Note 3 has taken away 3.5mm Audio Jack and instead adopted the CDLA (Continuous Digitial Lossless Audio) via the USB Type C to 3.5mm Audio Jack. A feature that I am not really a fan off, but is likely a subjective preference.
Snapdragon 660 versus Snapdragon 835
From the looks of it, the battle here is between these two chipsets. And it will not be an easy fight for the Mi Note 3, considering the price is already close to the Top Tier Flagship.
Chinese ROM (face palm)
Unfortunately, I could not get a lot of headway on my initial review because it had Chinese ROM. This means that it doesn’t have Playstore by default and Chinese Apps are plenty. However, it can easily be remedied by Manual Installation of Playstore or Flashing the Firmware to a Global ROM if available.
Stay tune for my full detailed review…
