You know how Pokemon Go really isn't like a main line Pokemon game? And how Mario Run isn't like a main line Mario game? And how Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp isn't like a main line Animal Crossing game? Given their track record, we should be assuming that Mario Kart Tour isn't going to be a traditional Mario Kart game, but rather a Mario Kart game designed for use on a smartphone. As much as I want Nintendo to make this basically a full on Mario Kart game, I just can't imagine them actually doing it. Mobile apps are different than console games. Nintendo isn't going to sell you a $60 MK8D but also let you download basically the same thing for free, that unfortunately isn't how things work. That said, I'm still very excited to see how this plays out. I'm looking forward to seeing how they might take a new spin on the franchise.
