Power/Battery Cutoff?

Having this weird problem, as of about three months ago, my laptop computer just turns off as soon as I disconnect it from the AC cable. When I have it on, however, my battery gauge tells me it’s fully charged, and still does as soon as I reconnect it to power. I have tried the general internet suggestions, such as checking power management settings/profiles, but to no avail. Anybody know why this might be happening? I’m starting to suspect my battery itself may just be going out, but I’ve only owned this PC just over a year, and I hope that isn’t the case.

Specs:

ASUS X540LA Intel i3 @ 2.20gHz 4GB DDR3 RAM Intel HD Int. Graphics 5500 2GB VRAM 1TB HDD

Windows 10 Home 64-Bit (Updated to current as of Dec. 27, 2017)

I use business-grade McAfee Antivirus Plus, if that’s relevant information.

If I’ve left anything out, please tell me and I’ll get it to you.

Thanks in advance for anything you can give me. :)
